Trivia Corner - Part 3. If you know
of owt that might fit in here, then please let me know. A
load of Horrocks
Famous actress/singer Jane Horrocks was a big fan of The Rats. She spent her youth wearing pyjamas, and even drew arrows on them to copy the Johnnie Fingers look (on the back of the Banana Republic single). Norra Lorra People Know This... The GEC headquarters in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, near Elstree and the (former) Borehamwood studios, was used as a backdrop for 'The Itailan Job', 'The Prisoner', 'The Avengers', and 'The Saint'. It was also used in a Bob Geldof video (but we're not quite sure which one...) Money For Nothing The September 1985 MTV Awards paid tribute to "Live Aid" organizer and inspiration, Bob Geldof. Introduced by Eddie Murphy, Joan Baez commented that "I'm always in this awkward position of being so serious," and announced she had re-written the speech given to her to deliver in honor of Geldof. Movie:
Bernard and the Genie

The Boomtown ... Mice ? On May 29 1981, U2 shared a bill with 'The Teardrop Explodes' and performed in New York City, New York, at the Palladium. The 3,400 people who show up for the concert are part of U2's largest crowd ever (up until then). Bono sang part of 'New York, New York'. Some people in the crowd threw boxes of live mice on the stage (referring to The Boomtown Rats - then the biggest Irish band in the world). Some of the mice were reported to have died instantly. Headbangers After seeing the Sex Pistols in Manchester, 'Skrewdriver' were formed. Skrewdriver were a typical second generation punk band hailing from Blackpool and were well known on the scene playing clubs such as the Roxy and Vortex. They went through quite a few image changes as punk progressed. They first appeared as a sort of punky Mud, then punkified in front of Blackpool tower. Violence seemed to follow the band , not helped by the skinhead image, with even Bob Geldof being knocked out at one of their gigs !!! It's a small world * Happy Clubster Bob (Vince Lovepump) Loveday worked with Irish singer Mary Coughlan * Mary Coughlan recorded a cover version of The Boomtown Rats - The Little Death. * Kirsty Maccoll sang backing vocals on the LP Uncertain Pleasures by Mary Coughlan. * Happy Clubster Bob (Vince Lovepump) Loveday ALSO worked with Kirsty Maccoll. * Rupert Hine worked with Bob (Vince Lovepump) Loveday at the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. * Rupert Hine produced some of Bob Geldof's albums, and introduced Bob (Vince Lovepump) Loveday to Bob Geldof. * Pete Briquette and Simon Crowe also worked with Kirsty Maccoll (See: Trivia Corner part 2). * Jayne Aire worked with Kirsty Maccoll. * Pete Briquette married Jayne Aire. * Kirsty Maccoll also worked with the Pogues. * Johnny Fingers guested for The Pogues in Japan. Father
Ted
It's reported that in one episode of the TV comedy Father Ted called 'Rock-a-hula Ted', Father Jack is mistaken for Bob Geldof. Father Jack's famous words are 'Feck', 'Arse', 'Girls', and 'Drink'.
Pepper Sir ? Following The Beatles Sgt Pepper album cover, Peter Blake received numerous enquiries from the music world to design covers - most of which he turned down. He did, however, accept a commission from Bob Geldof to design the cover for the Band Aid single, 'Do They Know It's Christmas', and the Live Aid poster. Having His Picture Taken Bob Geldof was at the opening night, and Stephen had his picture taken with Bob. The photo appeared in OK magazine (see photo left). The picture was seen by someone who had been in Frank Sinatra's backing band. He was looking for a 'Sinatra' to star in the show called 'The Main Event' in the USA. Stephen 'Frank Sinatra' Triffitt accepted the offer. Next year, the show is due to arrive in London's West End, produced by a woman who 25 years ago slept with Frank Sinatra. If Stephen Triffitt had never had his photo taken with Bob Geldof, then he might have still been a photocopier salesman. All materials
