They were recorded in Studio 6 at the Manchester TV Studios. The shows were output on late Wednesday afternoons. The bands who appeared on the show were all hand picked by Marc Bolan. Bolan gave Granada TV a list of the acts he liked, prior to recording the series. Marc Bolan picked The Rats as a favour to publicist B.P. Fallon. The Marc Bolan show was The Rats first ever TV appearance. The Rats didn't have the opportunity to do a sound check beforehand, and during the performance, were surrounded by dancing girls waving numbers. Marc said of the Rats "I've seen them twice at London clubs and they have the ability to become huge." These shows were instrumental to introducing New Wave bands, such as The Boomtown Rats. Unfortunately, Marc Bolan was killed just a couple of weeks later.
