In the News Police Aid - The Force is with you ! (that's got to be the best headline I've ever written) BOB GELDOF is fronting a new television advertisement to encourage people to join the police. Geldof's part in the campaign, which will be broadcast for the first time tomorrow (June 1 - The Bob Geldof advert will launch on ITV on Saturday night during the programme "The Vault".), involves police involvement with in tackling child abuse. The
new TV advert will be backed up by advertising on radio, in national newspapers,
cinema, posters and online. Regional advertising and adverts in women's
magazines are also being used as part of the three-year campaign. The former Boomtown Rats singer said he agreed to take part after being impressed by police officers when he called on them for help. "There's been a couple of times when I've needed help and they've helped," he said. "I've found them to be hugely compassionate and understanding. Being a police officer and having to make a personal decision which may disrupt that family forever or certainly upset the child forever is to take on board a huge responsibility," Reuters reports. Home Office minister John Denham praised Geldof's move. "The Bob Geldof advertisement is particularly
moving and helps demonstrate the challenges the police face day-to-day
and the high calibre of people needed to join the force," Home Office
minister John Denham said in a statement. All
