In the News KINNOCK'S
EURO JIBE AT GELDOF ROCK star Bob Geldof was ridiculed at an awards ceremony last night over his anti-euro stance. He was mocked by EU commissioner Neil Kinnock as he collected a lifetime achievement award for services to the pop industry. Guests at the IFPI awards in Brussels cheered as Mr Kinnock said: "For Bob Geldof's benefit I'd like to point out 12billion euros-worth of music is sold every year in Europe." The jibe follows Geldof's appearance in a controversial ad opposing the single currency on the grounds that Hitler would have liked it. Accepting his award from Mr Kinnock, Geldof admitted that he is now viewed as "the worst threat to Europe since Attila the Hun". But
he added: "I'm more comfortable having you guys hate me. If I can
upset you all, good. It's a point of view." All
