'Cinema for Peace' Gala Event

500 guests celebrated the first 'Cinema for Peace' charity gala event held in favour of Unicef. The event is part of the 'Berlin International Film Festival' which runs from 06 -17/02/2002

Hardly another social meeting in Berlin, Germany, with guests such as Hollywood star Donald Sutherland, Berlin governing mayor Klaus Wowereit, director Robert Altman, ex-tennis star Boris Becker, and of course Bob Geldof.

The event organisers succeeded in attracting a considerable guest crowd in the concert hall at the Gendarme Market. The 500 guests enjoyed a set meal. The proceeds of the Gala are estimated at around 200,000 euro, and will be presented to Unicef.

Bob Geldof presented a "Diamond Bucherer Award for Peace", to Hungarian director Istvan Szabo.
