Did What ? - Unreleased track - Arnold Layne

In 1982 The Boomtown Rats recorded a cover version of the Pink Floyd song 'Arnold Layne'.

The Rats version was never actually released on any format, but they did mime to it on a TV show. I'd describe the Rats version as having a 'hippy' feel to it, with an electronic beat. The Rats use instruments gathered whilst touring the world.

I'm only guessing, but it might have always been intended as a one-off recording, as it was performed on TV in the same week as the release of Pink Floyd's movie The Wall starring Bob Geldof.

Here's the Lyric's

ARNOLD LAYNE
Lyrics/music: Barrett

Arnold Layne had a strange hobby - collecting clothes
Moonshine, washing line
They suit him fine

On the wall hung a tall mirror
Distorted view
See thru' baby blue

He dug it - oh Arnold Layne
It's not the same
Takes two to know
Two to know
Why can't you see
Arnold Layne

Now he's caught
A nasty sort of person
They gave him time
Doors clang, chain gang

He hates it - Oh Arnold Layne
It's not the same
Takes two to know
Two to know
Why can't you see
Arnold Layne
Don't do it again
